05 November 2009 - Notice for AVG Anti-Virus users concerning failed upload tests on SpeedChecker.org

A number of SpeedChecker.org visitors have found a recent update to their AVG Anti-Virus software is now preventing them from completing the upload test on SpeedChecker.org.

Our analysis has found that the 'AVG Active Surf-Shield' component responsible for monitoring HTTP (web) traffic appears to struggle with elements of the protocol - namely chunked streaming and buffering.

Two interim options exist for AVG users suffering with this; opting to use the FTP protocol on Speed Test Plus or temporarily un-ticking the 'Enable AVG Active Surf-Shield' option from the LinkScanner component section (AVG.com Guidance).

Note: Please ensure you re-enable this functionality should you wish to continue using it.
