SpeedChecker.org are pleased to launch a new, and in a number of ways innovative, Speed Test Plus service .
From months of analysis of online speed tester services and benchmarking various broadband technologies and line speeds we have created an advanced service pushing the bounds of accuaracy. Some key characteristics being:
- Up to 300MB total payload delivered for each test
Many online speed testers transfer miniscule amounts of data or in very small chunks, often to conserve their own bandwidth usage, which does not provide a full representation of throughput.
Our maximum payload size ensures sufficient data is transferred during each test, in both directions, to accurately measure throughput. - Simultaneous multi-threaded payload delivery
This ensures your connection is really pushed to its limit. - Supports varying protocols and ports
Often bandwidth issues can surround excessive ISP traffic prioritisation or QoS (Quality of Service), which can hamper specific types of data. Measuring performance of varying protocols and ports provides a mechanism to isolate this. - Supports varying test durations
Often the throughput of a connection can fluctuate, particularly when not working well. Short speed tests can therefore provide a very cloudy view of performance. Benchmarking performance against varying test durations may aid isolating such issues. - Multiple test servers
Internet providers direct traffic across the internet in different ways, with varying peering arrangements, routing decisions etc meaning your performance to one server on the internet may be very different to another.
It's therefore always advisable to undertake a sequence of speed tests and establish your connections' performance from various networks and geographical locations. Whilst it's early days we hope to add more test sources as resources permit.
